ABOUT ME
In Short:
I am a nutrition science PhD who has worked for 15 years in nutraceutical research and industry, in Europe and the USA. I have an advanced understanding of both nutrition science and business, and am particularly interested in nutritional product innovation with health claims. Clinically-validated nutraceuticals are my specialty. I am currently operating as a consultant helping companies deliver elevated supplement and food/ beverage brands, including: bioactive nutraceuticals, vitamin-mineral blends, proteins, plant-based nutrition, to name a few.

I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. I attended University College Dublin for both my undergraduate (BSc Food Science) and graduate (PhD Nutrition) degrees. I worked for three years as a Post Doctoral Fellow, sponsored by Food for Health Ireland (FHI), a commercial body set up for the promotion and advancement of health-targeted Irish nutritional supplement and food businesses. At FHI I helped design, operate and disseminate results from clinical research, investigating dairy peptides for blood sugar management. This period gave me a fantastic understanding of the complexities of developing nutritional supplements, from multiple perspectives: formulation, clinical substantiation and commercial marketing and sales. I got great exposure to clinical trial design and operation as well as research translation to meaningful marketable data, all this in addition to hands-on commercial experience.
I have always loved the science behind good nutrition, and this period awakened my interest in the commercial side - how we allow the science be put into action, accessed by the people.

On the industry side, I have worked with Marigot Ltd in Cork, Ireland, makers of Aquamin marine-derived minerals, acting as Science Director. I then moved to the USA to join Glanbia Nutritionals, in Carlsbad, CA, where I served for ten years; moving from Bioactives Business Development to Sr Sales Manager, handling a multi-million dollar book of business across southern California.

In January 2025, I decided to take a leap into consulting. This has enabled me to answer a call to be active in both the scientific and commercial sides of the industry, allowing my unique skillset to be utilized to its best.
